New Product | CC x Mac Collins
Mac Collins is a furniture designer and maker from Nottingham.
We first came across Mac’s work in 2018 at the graduate show New Designers in London and particularly loved his Iklwa chair. It stood out as something special. His rich, narrative driven practice has quickly gained him well-deserved recognition from the likes of Crafts Council as an emerging designer and maker to watch.
After graduating from Northumbria University, Mac has returned home to Nottingham. Alongside pursuing his design work, he has recently started lecturing part time on the product design degree courses at Nottingham Trent University, where Felicity and I also lecture. Over the past few months it has been great to get to know Mac and it seemed natural to explore working on a project together.
For a while now, Felicity and I have had an idea for a product for the home that relates to Campbell Cole but have never had the expertise to bring it to life, so are really happy that Mac has agreed to collaborate and lead the design.
Yesterday we caught up with Mac to chat through initial concepts… and as we continue to renovate our house (and now a studio too), we were very, very excited to see Mac’s drawings and models.
At this stage, we have no set timeline for the project, but will be documenting it as it develops. We hope you enjoy the process as much as we do.
