With millions of coffee cups being thrown away each year and very few recycled, we know it’s time to commit to changing our habits.

16 billion paper cups are used for coffee every single year, which leads to 6.5 million trees cut down, 4 billion gallons of water going to waste, and enough energy to power 54,000 homes for a year also goes to waste. (Greenmatch.co.uk, November 2019)

In an attempt to reduce the amount of unnecessary waste we are responsible for, Ian and I no longer use disposable cups for drinks.

We have both used a KINTO 350ml Travel Tumbler for some time, which we ask cafes to fill when we buy hot drinks on the move. Most cafes offer discount when using your own mug so there’s a benefit to us, as well as the environment. And if we don’t have our Travel Tumblers with us, then we’ll drink inside from a proper mug, or simply go without.
